Congratulations to CBK Media Management client Lia Kamanā on making the move to a top-25 market. Lia joins the outstanding KPTV (FOX) news team in Portland, OR. Lia will anchor the weekday 12 PM newscast and report for the Good Day Oregon weekday morning newscasts. Prior to making the move to Portland, Lia spent three years working in her home state of Hawaii for KITV (ABC) in Honolulu as a news anchor/reporter. In June 2022, she was promoted from weekend morning news anchor to weekday morning news anchor. While working in Hawaii, Lia was chosen to participate in the 2024 Korea-United States Journalists Exchange, where she was one of six journalists from the United States to travel to South Korea. The theme for the 2024 trip was “Balancing U.S.-Korea Relations in an Election Year”.
Before Lia joined KPTV, she worked as a news reporter for WEYI/WSMH (NBC/FOX) in Flint, MI and KVII (ABC) in Amarillo, TX. Lia got her start in journalism as a writer for the Jerusalem Post, The Arizona Republic, and the Rocket-Miner Newspaper. Early in Lia’s career, she went on a 10-day fellowship trip to Palestine to learn more about the Palestinian people, culture, and plight.
Lia is a proud graduate of Michigan State University and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a concentration in sports reporting. She also minored in Jewish Studies. When she’s not working, Lia loves to surf and travel. #TeamCBK
